Tim Keller, Death, and Eternal Life

I always enjoyed reading and listening to Tim Keller. He had a way of taking an abundance of knowledge and distilling it for everyday use. Instead of letting knowledge puff up he would lead it to the heart where it could do some good.

He passed away this year after a struggle with cancer but even his funeral shows the marks of his thoughtful approach to faith.

I would encourage you to download the bulletin of the service from Redeemer’s website. He left some notes for us on why he picked the hymns he did and why they sang them in that order.

This is a great illustration of why song selection and liturgy (order of service) matter. With the right songs and order even a funeral can be turned into a triumphant declaration that Christ has conquered death.

New Video: Amazing Grace (Backing Track)

Hey all,

I’m starting a new series for my lessons studio. I’ll be offering a free beginner guitar lesson on YouTube that will teach you how to play “Amazing Grace”.

The actual lesson is coming soon(ish) but I wanted you to know that I’ve put the backing track up on YouTube. Check it out and have fun jamming out, its in the key of G.

Oh, and since you read this here on Theworshipingsongwriter.com you get a sneak peak at the lead sheet. Enjoy!

Also, if you want to take lessons with me click here!

Support “Christ The Hope of Glory” (Even after the Kickstarter)

Hey all,

What an amazing month with the Kickstarter! We are so encouraged by your support and we’re looking forward to going into the studio (I just made the down payment today). That said, there have been some people who wanted to support the album but for one reason or another missed the Kickstarter.

I wanted to let you know some ways you can support us post-Kickstater.

  1. Pray for us. If we want these songs to bless God’s church then we need His guidance every step of the way.
  2. Share this project. The more people who know about “Christ The Hope of Glory” the better!
  3. Follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Threads (oooh look at me, being up-to-date on the latest text based social media platform)
  4. Buy or listen to our first EP “The Home That He Has Promised”. It’s in the store and streaming everywhere. It means so much to us to see that people are listening to these songs.
  5. Sign up for lessons! Both Jarred and I are accepting students right now and we would love to help you learn more about the wonderful art of music. Click here to sign up.
  6. Donate using this page.

Thank you all so much and I can’t wait to share these new songs with you. Stay tuned for updates!

A Quick Word From Matt Merker of Getty Music

Hey all,

Got something special today! Matt Merker, Director of Creative Resources and Training at Getty Music, has taken a break from writing in Ireland to share a quick word about “The Well That Never Runs Dry”.

I had the privilege of co-writing this song with Matt as part of the Getty’s Hymn Writers Collective and we’re excited for it to be included on “Christ The Hope of Glory”. But don’t take my word for it, hear what Matt has to say!

If you would like to help make this song a reality then head over to the Kickstarter https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/…

Also check out the Getty’s Sing! Conference in Nashville, September 4-6 https://gettymusicworshipconference.com/

Also also, we are hosting a concert on June 23rd to celebrate the end of the Kickstarter (and its looking like we’re going to have lots to celebrate, we’re at 80%!). Tickets are free and I hope you can join us.

TWS Lessons: Grace Every Day Intro

Hey all,

One of the reward tiers on the Kickstarter is music lessons with me (Dan Loch). I wanted to share a bit of what that looks like so I recorded a video that walks through the intro of Grace Every Day. Hope you enjoy and let me know what you think! If you end up learning the intro I would love to hear you playing it, just tag @theworshipingsongwriter or @lochandcain when you post it.

Also, to support the Kickstarter and get a music lesson, go here!

The Home That He Has Promised (Live From The House)

Hey All,

Lindsey and I have recently been blessed to become homeowners. There’s lots of projects to do, lots of walls to paint, and lots of things to clean but we’re overjoyed to have a place to call our own.

I cleared out one corner and set up my portable studio to record this once in a lifetime opprotunity. I don’t think the house will ever be this empty again. So I hope you enjoy this arrangment of “The Home That He Has Promised” recorded live in our new house.

If you do enjoy this music, consider supporting us on Kickstarter. We’re trying to record our next album “Christ The Hope of Glory”.
